Biography

Carrie Underwood, born March 10, 1983, is a singer/songwriter from Muskogee, Oklahoma, U.S. She came to fame in 2005 when she became the winner of the fourth season of American Idol. She is arguably one of the most successful contestants to come about on any singing competition television shows.

Underwood has had 15 number one hit songs, 26 top 10 hit songs, and 39 other songs airplay according to Billboard under "Country Airplay." She has released five albums total as well as one compilation album, with "Some Hearts" in 2005, and "Storyteller" in 2015.

She is the top-selling debut album of any American Idol contestant with 16,389,000 total sales just in the United States alone. All of her albums have reached platinum status, with her highest selling album "Some Hearts" released in 2005, reached 8x Platinum. [20]

Underwood has more than 60 awards under her belt, those of which include 7 Grammy awards and 12 American music awards; she is the most awarded artist in CMT history.
